LAPTOP filing says token has no utility or roadmap, warns buyers could lose entire investment

A token disclosure document for LAPTOP, a meme coin tied to Hunter Biden, says the asset carries no practical use, no staking function, and no plan to add utility later. The filing identifies LAPTOP as a Base-based ERC-20 community token and digital collectible issued by the Cayman Islands-based Phoenix Veritas Foundation and British Virgin Islands company Phoenix Veritas Ventures Ltd, entities described as co-founded by Hunter Biden and others. The document also states that holding the token does not represent equity in those entities or any other organization, and does not grant voting, governance, revenue-sharing, dividend, profit, or income rights. According to the filing, the token’s value is derived entirely from community sentiment, and no fundraising had previously been conducted around LAPTOP. The risk section adds that the token is provided on an "as is" basis, with no promised development roadmap and no obligation to continue development. It also says there is no price floor, buyback, or redemption mechanism, and that the token’s price is driven entirely by meme-culture sentiment and market speculation. Buyers, the filing says, could lose all of the money they put in. It also notes that 65% of LAPTOP supply is locked or subject to multi-year vesting, creating potential selling pressure if concentrated holdings are released or sold in the future.

Hunter Biden's X Account Follows 'Laptop' Token, LAPTOP Launching on Base on September 9

Hunter Biden's X account currently follows only one account named 'Laptop' (@Laptoptoken), which is associated with the LAPTOP token. The token is scheduled to launch on the Base network on September 9, with its contract address and official website already released. According to the project website, LAPTOP has a total supply of 1 billion tokens, with 35% unlocked at TGE and the remainder fully unlocked over 36 months. Token allocation includes 30% for the founding team, 30% for prediction market tokens, 20% for airdrops, 10% for liquidity, 5% for the foundation treasury, and 5% for charity. The prediction market component is tied to real-world events such as politics, crypto, and culture; if an event materializes, corresponding tokens are burned, otherwise they are donated to charity. The project claims to have undergone a security audit by Hacken. ChainCatcher warns users to verify information sources and avoid interacting with unknown links or contracts to protect their assets.
